Burntwood Business — Research dashboard privacy notice

This notice explains how Burntwood Business processes information for our Local Business Research dashboard, which surfaces public information about independent businesses in Burntwood, Lichfield, Cannock, Hednesford and Rugeley. It supplements our main site privacy policy.

What we hold and why

For each business that appears in the research dashboard we hold one or more of: business name, trading category, town, address, business phone, public email, website URL, social media URLs, public ratings, and a short factual description. Most of this information has been published by the business itself on Yell, Google Maps, Independent Lichfield, Lichfield Live, We Are Cannock or Burntwood Business.

We use this information to:

  • Help local residents find independent businesses
  • Show businesses how visible they are online so they can improve
  • Where appropriate, invite businesses to claim a free listing on Burntwood Business

Lawful basis

We rely on legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) for the directory and visibility scorecard. We rely on either legitimate interests for B2B corporate contacts or, where required, soft opt-in / consent for direct marketing under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Remove your business from the research dashboard
  • Correct any inaccurate details
  • Stop sending you marketing communications
  • Get a copy of the information we hold about you

Use the removal / correction form or email martyn@burntwood.business. We action verified requests within 30 days.

Retention

Listing data is held for as long as the business remains an active independent business in the catchment, and is reviewed on each scheduled refresh. Removal requests and contact details associated with them are deleted within 60 days of the request being closed.

Sharing

We do not sell this information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing. The dashboard itself is published on burntwood.business and is therefore publicly viewable; the admin / outreach pipeline is restricted to staff.

Data controller

Burntwood Business is operated by Let's Grow MJC Limited, which is the data controller for this dashboard and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Complaints can be made directly to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
